Located right in the heart of KLCC, on P. Ramlee, across from Petronas Twin Towers, Envi offers a unique dining experience overlooking the spectacular 340-degree panoramic view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. We already heard a lot of good things from friends before getting an opportunity to experience it ourselves. It is one of the latest additions to KL dining and night life.
If you are looking to go to a nice restaurant, with affordable food and fantastic views, Envi rooftop restaurant and bar is the place to visit. Its unique location will allow you to enjoy one of the best skylines in KL. Without any further delay, lets get on with our evening!
Our Dining Experience:
We decided to start our evening with a selection of Envi’s Bruschetta. You get an option to either select four pieces of your favorite type or you could go with a mix & match Bruschetta (RM27) option. As we wanted to try as many types as possible, we decided to mix. Types we ordered:
- Classical Tomato Basil – you can’t have bruschetta without trying an original flavor. They did it just right! Bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Plenty of topping and seasoning and herb balance was superb.
- Creamy Mushrooms – I have always been a big fan of mushrooms and we really enjoyed it. They didn’t overcook the mushrooms unlike a lot of other places I tried in the past.
- Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese – My favourite bruschetta of the evening. As many of you know by now from breakfast bagels, cream cheese and salmon work incredibly well together. Tough to get that one wrong.
- Smoked Salmon and Wasabe Mayo – Now this one was an interesting addition. An Asian take on original bruschetta. Wasabe mayo was smooth and added a nice spicy kick.
After finishing up with bruschetta and thoroughly licking our fingers we moved onto Garlic Prawns (RM26). A large, fresh king prawns in a delicious stock. As soon as they brought them out you could smell an aroma of a broth.
Plenty of garlic on top given it a fantastic kick. We couldn’t help not to dip our bread into the broth until we wiped the plate clean. Let me assure you, you will be requesting more bread!
For the main course, based on their recommendation, I personally went with Black Angus Rib Eye (220gm, RM150). As you must know from the past articles, I am personally a medium-rare fan when it comes to steaks. The Envi chef cooked it to perfection! The highlight of the dish was actually their signature torched butter and blue cheese sauce.
The smoky flavour was an interesting and well received addition to a succulent, juicy steak. Rib eye was also served with creamy mash potatoes and grilled seasonal vegetables.
My partner ordered a delicious bowl of Home Made Mushroom Ravioli (RM60) in a pesto cream reduction. It was clear that chef put a lot of effort into the preparation but personally I think there was a touch too much pesto cream reduction. Other than that the dish was very tasty indeed.
Before long we moved onto our desserts. The highlight of the evening was Tortino – Molten Chocolate Brownie (RM30), served with vanilla ice cream. As any lava cake should be, it had a liquid chocolate middle with chewie brownie edges.
It was spectacular, even now, weeks after we had it, we can’t stop talking about it! We were really impressed when Envi staff allowed us to take our desserts to an outdoor area outside of the actual restaurant. We were able to finish off our food and drinks with a spectacular view of KL!
To finish our evening off, we also decided to try their Signature Snow Ice with Mango and Strawberry Flavour (2 for 28RM). A thinly shaved ice came with an interesting surprise, in the form of a mango ice cream tucked away in the middle. This was a pleasant and well received addition to a signature Asian dessert.
Overall, we have really enjoyed our evening. Located in a heart of KLCC, with a panoramic view of the city, Envi will be competing with some of the best rooftop restaurants and bars in KL and as far as we could tell they are certainly prepared to do it right!
