Having heard so much about Interlude TTDI we of course were delighted to accept when the management asked us to review their establishment. Situated just 15 KM west of Kuala Lumpur in TTDI or Tam Tun Dr. Ismail. A well known township in close proximity to Bandar Utama Damansara, Damansara Utama, Mutiara Damansara, also neighbouring Bukit Kiara and Sri Hartamas as well as within easy access to Bangsar and Damansara Heights.
Interlude TTDI is in an exciting and happening night life hub area, neighbouring a plethora of other popular restaurants and gastro bars. Very competitively priced with beer promotions that other main stream gastro bars are continuously offering their clients.
However, I have to say that Interlude TTDI’s promotion is one of the best I have seen yet with an all day promo on Tiger beer of just RM10 nett per mug!
A small terrace area leads you into a fantastic, fully air conditioned, spacious and very neatly arranged dining area. We were very impressed with the furnishings and decor which gave it a very unique, clean, airy and crisp feel. There is seating on the terrace area should you wish to sit outside and a choice of seating inside, with high tables and bar stools in the centre and low dining tables and comfortable chairs arranged on both sides of the dining area. There are TV’s mounted on the walls of the dining area.
Moving towards the back there is a large bar and recreation area also with seating, pool table and a huge TV. This recreation area, although in the same space as the dining area, it is subtly and cleverly separated from the dining area so diners and drinkers can enjoy the same space undisturbed by each other.
So whether you are out to enjoy just a few drinks with friends or family or full on dinner, or indeed both, Interlude TTDI can accommodate you!
Staff were very friendly and attentive. We also had a good chat with the owner, Rabin who told us about a new menu that is coming out this month and is themed around “The Barbeque Fest“. Interlude TTDI is one of the very few establishments that has a fire barbeque installed in the kitchen for those of you, like me, who love that authentic and unique barbequed taste! For the time being though you can check out their existing menu here which will soon be changing.
Our Dining Experience
We arrived about 6pm and there was just 2 of us dining today. We sat inside and were immediately greeted by a waiter who took our order. We ordered 5 dishes in total, 1 starter to share, 3 main courses and 1 dessert.
First out was the Greek Salad (RM16) for sharing between the two of us. Served slightly chilled and very well presented with fresh and crispy mixed leaves of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumber, red and green peppers whole black olives and feta cheese. All tossed in a light balsamic vinegar dressing and extra virgin olive oil.
Next was honestly the star of the show and also a chefs special, this huge, 400 gram House Steak (RM150) was simply awesome! An Australian Black Angus Steak prepared medium rare as we requested on a cast iron skillet.
Also well presented and served on a circular wooden platter, resting on a large helping of deliciously creamy mashed potato, brussel sprouts and mustard on the side. Be warned, this is definitely not for the faint hearted, and considering the size of it, very well priced as well. The photos of this awesome dish probably tell you all you need to know!
Next was the Jamaican Jerk Half Chicken With 2 Sides (RM34) which was also a very large portion and just like the steak, excellent value without compromising on quality or quantity. Credit to the chef for his consistency on presentation with all the dishes so far.
These 2 succulent pieces of jerk chicken were topped with fresh parsley, slices of fresh lime and served with Jamaican rice and pineapple salad. It was clear that the chicken had been marinated and freshly barbequed since it was very crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside, perfect!
Out next was the Spicy Pork Sausage (RM35) which consisted of thick slices of pork sausage and penne pasta all smothered in a rich tomato and basil sauce.
The last dish was the Chocolate Celebration (RM 18) dessert served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.
Our experience was thoroughly enjoyable with excellent food, great ambience and friendly, attentive staff. I personally loved the interior, furnishings and decor of Interlude TTDI as did my wife. It has a very different feel to it compared to other gastro bars, a feeling that I cannot quite put my finger on! So much in fact that we stayed for quite a while after we had finished our food taking advantage of their Tiger beer promo of RM10 nett per mug!
The food is very well priced, well presented, with generous helpings. The huge House Steak considering the size and quality really is a bargain at RM150 and was definitely the winner today!
Thank you to owner, Rabin and his friendly staff, we will definitely be coming back, see you all soon!
