Ame Soeur Boutique Cafe is situated in Bukit Jalil, approximately 14KM south of Kuala Lumpur, it’s quite easy to get to and unlike a lot of places, there is plenty of parking right outside as you can see from our video of the exterior.  Ame Soeur also have a Restaurant, The Ame Soeur which is very nearby, we will hopefully be telling you more about that in another review.

We arrived at approximately 12.30pm for lunch.  Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the waiters who opened the door for us.  We were taken aback by the extravagant surroundings which suggest a very European theme.  The ostentatious decor, furniture and even tableware got me thinking that this place is going to be super expensive!  So I was surprised when I saw the menu because actually, it is very reasonably priced indeed, especially giving consideration to the extravagant and undoubtedly expensive surroundings.

Main Dining Area

When we first arrived it was quite empty, but then it started to get quite busy.  On looking around I got the feeling that it is becoming very popular with not only diners, but people that just want to enjoy their wide selection of homemade cakes, many different types of coffees and teas, brought to your table in an extravagant yet beautiful antique style machine!  Wait for a while for it to brew, then pour and enjoy!

Main Courses

We all had Soup Of The Day to start, then mains, desserts and of course we had to try the coffee, and the machine! The Beef Wellington which is apparently one of their best sellers, now I know why!  The mashed carrot was really nice, very smooth, creamy and lightly salted.  It came with a very tasty mushroom shallot sauce, which was in its own small jug so you can use as much or as little as you like.

Next was the homemade pasta dishes Squid Ink Basil Pesto Pasta Topped With Pan Seared Salmon Fillet and Classic Seafood Carbonara. The salmon was cooked to perfection, very tasty and just melted in the mouth.  As you can see in the menu when ordering from the pasta section you can mix and match with 3 stages and choices.  First, choose your type of pasta, then select your sauce and finally choose your main topping.  The creamy carbonara was laden with mussels, squid and prawns.

The Smoked Barbecue Spring Chicken really was excellent, and judging by the flavour, moistness and texture, it truly was an authentic spring chicken!  Topped with american barbecued sauce, it also came with coleslaw and potato cheese croquettes.

Desserts And Coffee

We ordered Gourmet Royal Belgian Coffee, Belgian Dark Chocolate Waffles and Chocolate Brownies.  The waffles were a very big portion, so big in fact that we couldn’t finish them!  Topped with ice cream, shavings of chocolate, fresh cream, icing sugar, almonds and chocolate sauce.  Easy to see why this is also one of their best sellers!  However, personally, the chocolate brownies were my favourite, smothered in chocolate sauce, fresh cream and almonds, yummy!

My wife is a real coffee lover and told me that the Royal Belgian coffee was simply awesome and definitely worth the waiting time whilst watching it brew in the antique coffee machine!

If you want to try something completely different, then this is the place!  I have never seen anything quite like the decor in any establishment in Malaysia before.  The owners really have set out to impress and it’s working.  A lot of thought and expense has gone into the uniquely designed interior, furniture and tableware.  It’s a very diverse place in the sense that there is something for every appetite, you can have full lunch or dinner or just snack on their homemade sweets and enjoy the amazing selection of coffees and teas.  All the food was excellent and well presented, in keeping with the lovely tableware.

I have to say, what surprised me the most was such reasonable prices in an establishment of this stature and awe.  It’s definitely worth a visit, since it’s also easy to get to with lots of parking outside!
