There are approximately 150 international schools in Malaysia with the majority of them located in the Klang Valley, Johor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan. The steady growth of international schools in the country reflects the demand for an English-medium education offering globally recognised qualifications such as the IGCSE. Popular curricula offered by internationals schools in Malaysia include the British Curriculum, Cambridge International Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate.
Parents who are considering an international school education for their children need to consider several factors. They need to take into account the location, curriculum offered, facilities, learning environment and support provided to students, among others. International schools have varying fee structures as well. Therefore, parents are encouraged to plan early and do as much research as possible before deciding on a school. Information can be obtained by visiting school websites and social media pages, open days and school fairs.
