“Improv – is the balance of artistry, craft and the joy of good food” no truer statement.
We approached Improv as we had heard quite a bit about it and asked them if we could review their establishment, they accepted!
On our arrival, before we even entered we could tell by the restaurant front that it was going to be a very different experience! Once inside, it is immediately noticeable that this restaurant has a very unique environment indeed; surrounded by music, books and art displayed on the walls amidst an ambience totally different from any other. The decor is sleek and contemporary giving it a warm and relaxing feel.
This was our second visit to Improv and it’s yet to disappoint. Yet again, welcomed by smiling, friendly and attentive staff – orders came on point! Also, you can find out a lot more about Improv on their nicely laid out website, including their full menu and prices.
So, let’s tell you about our experience and the food that we thoroughly enjoyed!
Sharing Platters, Soups And Salads
We started with “French Mussels” which came coated in a light tomato sauce, garnished with mint leaves and served with garlic bread on the side, the mussels were cooked perfectly and the sauce was simply delicious.

Next we had the “Summer Salad In The Alps” – A Selection of locally grown tomatoes served with rocket infused mozzarella ice cream drizzled in a light balsamic vinaigrette, a welcomed unusual twist to a classic summer salad.

Delectable Mains
“Sumptuous Meatballs” definitely stole the show! It was plated with artistic flare and just as flavour some. Oven Baked meatballs served with, Buttery Mash with Dill, Onion Gravy, Beef Jus, Barberry Jam & Pickles. Full of warmth & flavour.

Desserts
Among other things, there is a choice of sorbets or Ice Cream with Muscovado Crumble available on the dessert menu. I Chose the delightful home made coconut ice cream served on a bed of Muscovado Crumble which was very flavour some and not too sweet with coconut flakes mixed through – one of my favourites!

My partner had the Berry sorbet, this is from the same section in the dessert menu and so again was served on the same bed of Muscovado Crumble. The sorbet itself was light and tangy, excellent for teasing the taste buds and perfect for soothing down the main courses!
Finally, we also shared between us the “Crème Brule” with brown butter ice cream.

In Summary, I would definitely suggest you pay this place a visit and sample the awesome food. What makes it as well is the really quite unusual, but yet fitting environment, giving it a unique ambience surrounded by music, books and art! You can just walk in, but probably best to call first or book online if you wish.
