SIBU – Police have detained five men who went on a rampage and damaged a restaurant here over food issues.
In the incident on Tuesday night, the men, part of a group, were apprehended shortly after the restaurant owner lodged a police report.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the five, aged between 18 and 31, were picked up at various locations in town.
The viral video on the incident, which occurred at 9.30pm on Tuesday, showed the group using plastic chairs to smash the restaurant’s refrigerator, ceiling and cashier counter.
The plastic chairs were also broken.
ACP Stanley said four of the suspects were jobless while the fifth is a businessman.
The group had gone berserk in the restaurant over the food served to them, he added.
The five suspects have been remanded for two days to help police in the investigation.
