Happy new year happy people! I hope you had a great holiday with family and friends, we sure did! For the beginning of this year we prepared for you our KL Expat Malaysia signature Wine and Cheese Night to share our traveling stories and have an amazing time with friends at a new location in town.

Because the Chinese New Year is coming up very soon, this time the supporting venue is The China Bar in TREC. Recently opened last year as many of you know, The China Bar wants to establish a bridge between the new age of the nightlife modernism and the elegant traditional Chinese philosophies and ways of life. ‘The taste of China’ is what the story is all about, the rice paper lanterns, the burlesque costumes, men dressed up in tuxedos and hats, beautiful women in their cheongsam making you blush with their smiles while dancing in the middle of the grand rooms.

You will have the privilege to taste a fine selection of high quality wine – FREE FLOW for three hours, cheese and canapés, starting with 7.30 PM.

Abadal Blanc 2016, Spain:

Synergy of structure, exoticism and identity. White wine from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Picapoll and Macabeo. Cold maceration and ageing on the lees: varietal expression and volume in the mouth. A complex white wine that allows for keeping and evolution in the glass.

Château Les Reuilles, Sauvignon Blanc 2016, France:

Lots of grass and gooseberry on the nose. On the palate it’s deliciously balanced, with gooseberry and citrus as well as peaches and some honey in the background. Less fruit forward and more balanced than most NZ SB, this Bordeaux is just as easy and pleasant to drink.

Abadal Franc Sumoll 2016, Spain:

Abadal Franc 2016 is a Spanish red wine made from a remarkably original blend of Cabernet Franc, Ull de Llebre and the indigenous Sumoll. Formerly known as Abadal Cabernet Franc Tempranillo, with the addition of the Sumoll grape the wine has become fresher and livelier.

Produced by the Abadal winery, the grapes were separately harvested and vinified. Then, the wine was aged for a brief period of 4 months in American and French oak barrels.

Chateau Larrat 2014, France: 

Aromatic Right Bank style Claret from Pugnac, Cotes de Blaye. Chateau Larrat has an almost Burgundian nose, all gentle fragrance and lavender perfume. Layered flavours of cassis, loganberry, and black cherry with notes of delicate roasted oak and a hint of mint and graphite. Mellow and deep with supple tannins and good balance. Lovely structure in the mouth and a long finish. 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc.
