KUALA LUMPUR: A local company aims to invest RM1.8bil to build 20 automated mechanical parking system in the country next year.
M.A. Intelligent Parking (M) Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Isa Kasim said the parking system, which uses Japanese technology, would be the first of its kind in the country to help to tackle limited parking spaces, especially in cities and towns.
“We have two on-going projects at the Kuala Kedah Jetty and Dataran Medan Tuanku, Alor Star, worth RM84 million, which would be completed in two years,” he told reporters at the launch of Malaysia’s first such parking system here today.
Dr Muhammad also said the company was also in talks with Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, KL Sentral, hospitals and shopping malls around the country to build the parking system.
He added the parking tower will be open to the public in two months. The parking tower has 199 parking bays and will operate 24 hours.
The rate is RM13 per entry and another RM2 will be charged for the subsequent hour.
He said the system was the result of a collaboration with Nissei Build Kogyo Co Ltd, the biggest supplier of pre-fabricated building and multi-level mechanical and conventional car parking in Japan.
Muhammad said M.A. Intelligent Parking was the sole agent for the system in East Asia and the Middle East. It plans to venture into Indonesia, Cambodia and several Middle Eastern countries soon.
